What you need
- The seller's Form 29 (application number)
- Aadhaar-linked mobile
- Photos of the vehicle front and the chassis number
What can block it
- The seller's open items (challans, bank, PUC)
- A transfer already in progress to someone else
- Late filing: ₹300 a month after 30 days
Important to know
- Odometer, service history and off-insurance repairs have no official record
- Move the insurance to your name within 14 days of the sale (s.157)
- One vehicle, one FASTag: the seller closes theirs first

₹400 for a two-wheeler. Indicative: Karnataka schedule where known, otherwise central Motor Vehicles Act.

- Is a sale deed needed?
- No. Rule 55 needs Form 30, the RC, the insurance certificate and the fee.
- Can I see past owners?
- Every transfer with its date; names masked as Vahan prints them.
